International Women’s Day — MAYCRAZYLIFESTYLE

We have come a long way. We still have lots of work. We will celebrate International Women’s Day every day, every month, and every year for all the chingona women that have laid it out for us so we can continue making changes, big or small.

This day provides an important opportunity to reinforce commitment and action forging women's equality, while also celebrating women's achievements.

We still have to fight the good fight. Let’s support one another. Motivate one another. Celebrate one another.

Hey! I’m Chloe. I’m a film maker and an artist. Growing up my mom always told me to be myself, speak my mind, and stand up for myself. Having a strong voice shaped my personality in so many ways I never realized until it was taken away. When I started working in film, suddenly I wasn’t allowed to have a voice, an opinion, or even stand up for myself. It took its toll on me and I fell silent, I lost my voice. Over the years, I’ve relearned no one has the right to tell you when you can and can’t speak. Especially when you’re speaking out against mistreatment and abuse. When someone tries to take your voice it’s often because they feel insecure and out of control of their lives, and having control over you is a way they can feel like they have it back. It took me a long time and loosing my voice to learn and appreciate its power, and to not hide that power just to make others feel comfortable.

My message to all the ladies out there is no matter what your connection to someone is, if they’re your supervisor, friend, partner, or even family member. Never let them have enough control over you to silence you. Your voice is important, your voice matters, your voice is beautiful. So sing my dears.
