MAY’S BIO

My name is Mayra Juarez, but my friends call me May. I’m first generation chicana (but now I’m a citizen of Mexico!! A..huevo!). I was born in Oxnard, CA but my roots come from Zacatecas, MX from el rancho. In Oxnard I worked in activism, and community organizing.
I moved to Los Angeles on my own when I was around 22 years old, and I been here for 15 years. I wanted to follow my dreams to be in the music scene, and modeling. I managed to work for the radio station super estrella, became a show promoter, and band manager. I even got a small feature on a show on the mun2 network to work with Rebecca Leon (who now manages artist like Rosalia.)

Maycrazylifestyle started in 2018 as a lifestyle blog (food, music, fashion, art), as the business grew we registered as a LLC in 2020.
I started the business to be my own boss and not depend on the different jobs I’ve had, especially since living single in Los Ángeles has not been easy.

In 2011 and 2015 I had two car accidents one of which almost killed me. In 2016 I had to get a spinal fusion surgery in my lower back. I had to learn to walk again, and like Frida found a way to use art as healing, I too was able to find ways to get inspired.
I channeled my inner Frida.  I would write my own quotes (“dichos”) and draw them out on shirts. That’s where I got the idea to start my own brand.
“We bottle up everything inside. It isn’t healthy for us to keep everything in. I used my pain into power, that’s why I decided to design shirts with messages of empowerment, to never give up on yourself. To be yourself. Love yourself, Fight for your dreams. Be your own hero. Never let anything dim your light.

My goal is not only to be my own boss but I want to give out those chingona vibes, motivate others to be their unique selves, and to thrive no matter what happens.
We live in a crazy world, and at the same time a beautiful world. It’s time to awaken our guerrera within, and thrive.
I want to build workshops, healing circles, and using outdoor activities like hiking to help us heal, and give us that chingona energy. My community helped me heal and awaken me.
I want to continue that circle to contribute back #chingonavibes to motivate other women to be themselves so they can do the same as I did.
To become Guerreras Poderosas.
